Exchange program

The European Union's Civil Preparedness Mechanism (UCPM) has an exchange programme that offers emergency preparedness experts learning periods in a geographical area that includes 52 countries.

The exchange programme ensures that experts from all over Europe gain a deeper understanding of the requirements placed on European emergency response personnel. The training aims to strengthen the coordination and analysis skills of crisis personnel.

The exchange program provides emergency preparedness experts with the opportunity to share experiences, learn from others, and strengthen their operational skills.  The experts themselves can apply to participate in an exchange programme, and emergency authorities and organisations can invite experts to courses.

The exchange varies in length from a few days to up to three months. A typical exchange program lasts five days. The experts can participate alone or together with colleagues in small groups with a maximum of 10 people from different countries.
