In an early phase of an operation, the UN will often send out crisis assessment teams to facilitate the further relief work, called UNDAC. These teams need ICT and communication solutions in the field, which work in places where there is no such infrastructure.
In support of the UN's UNDAC team, DSB and the Norwegian Civil Defence have created a concept to provide this type of support. With a crew and a well-adapted equipment warehouse, small teams of 1-2 people are put together, who can quickly support the UN in an early phase of a disaster event. The usual intervention period is about three weeks.
Around 30 assignments have been carried out since the year 2000.
