What do you do when there is a fire?

Save-alert-extinguish is a simple rule of thumb for what to do if there is a fire.

Save

If you are the one who discovers a fire, be sure to notify the others in the home. Shout "Fire! Fire!". Help each other so that everyone gets out to safety. Meet at an agreed meeting place so that you quickly get an overview that everyone is out.

Notify

Notify the fire service on the emergency number 110. Please provide your exact address. Follow the instructions from the fire department. Don't hang up until you're told it's okay.

Extinguish

If the fire has not become larger than it is possible to extinguish it, try to extinguish it with a house fire hose or fire extinguisher. If the fire develops quickly, leave the job to the fire department. Remember that the smoke is highly toxic.

You must decide the order of these points based on the situation in question. However, you must always make sure to call for help.
