Is a product safe or dangerous?
It must be safe to buy goods in Norway. In the jungle of products on the market, however, products appear from time to time that are dangerous or can potentially cause harm to you or the environment around you.
To make it easier for you as a consumer to find out whether a product is safe or dangerous, nine Norwegian authorities have created the website farligeprodukter.no.
On farligeprodukter.no you will find products that can directly or indirectly be harmful to you, as well as a recommendation on what you should do. The products are reported by consumers, suppliers or manufacturers.
Products that are not in this database can still be dangerous. If you suspect that a product may be harmful, we recommend that you report it.
Check before buying
Manufacturers, importers and retailers are responsible for removing dangerous products from the market. Nevertheless, from time to time there will be dangerous products in circulation. This can happen, for example, if a consumer has not received the information that the product is to be returned to the store, and sells it on the second-hand market. There is also a risk that the product that should have been removed from the store is still sold, or that online stores do not comply with the Norwegian authorities' requirements.
Therefore, make it a habit to check farligeprodukter.no if you are going to shop, especially abroad, on the internet or on the second-hand market. If the product is considered dangerous, you should of course steer clear.
Report
The authorities need your help to remove dangerous products from the market. If you suspect that a product may be harmful, we therefore hope that you report it to us. Such reports of concern are followed up by the authorities, and your report can prevent harm to people and the environment.
Report to us a product that is dangerous or potentially dangerous. (First, use the search bar to see if the product has already been registered).
Have you seen a recalled product in store? Search for the product on farligeprodukter.no. At the bottom of the page you will find the notification form for the product you have observed. Use this and the authorities will be notified that a recalled product has been observed in stores.
