Filters out dangerous light
Solar eclipse goggles are defined as personal protective equipment and must meet strict requirements to be legal. An important requirement is that the glass/film in the glasses should only let through 1 in 100,000 parts of sunlight, so that the eyes are protected from the strong rays.
Regular sunglasses are not enough
Regular sunglasses have a completely different type of lens that does not filter out light in the same way. Therefore, you must never wear regular sunglasses during a solar eclipse. Even several pairs of ordinary sunglasses on top of each other will not be able to protect in the same way as solar eclipse glasses.
Must be CE marked
Solar eclipse glasses must be CE marked. When a manufacturer or the manufacturer's representative affixes the CE mark to a product, she declares that the product is safe and that this can be documented.
The solar eclipse glasses will also be sold together with usage and warning information in Norwegian. In addition, information about the manufacturer and/or the Norwegian representative who sells the product must be included.
