Emergency and preparedness users in Norway rely entirely on an efficient, secure, and robust communication tool to perform their duties.
Nødnett enables collaboration between users—both within their own organizations and across agencies, sectors, and Nordic borders.
The current Nødnett functions well today, but like all technology, it has a limited lifespan.
DSB has therefore initiated work on establishing a new emergency communication network to meet the needs of emergency and preparedness users after the phase-out of the current Nødnett.
A new emergency communication network utilizing modern technology can maintain and further develop the services that users depend on in their daily work. This could include the ability to transmit video and data in groups quickly and securely— a service not supported by the current Nødnett.
The new emergency communication network must be managed in a way that allows for the development of additional future services that can be built upon the solution.
